Five-week-old Dwayne Coen laid out in his casket. Dwayne died in February 1935 of "dust pneumonia", a common condition in the Dust Bowl era. 31 people in Morton County, Kansas died of it in the spring of 1935, out of a population of 4,092. This included Dwayne and his two-year-old aunt, Rena Marie.
